SDI Surveillance

Sometimes called Serial Digital Interface, the SDI format provides an easy way to connect new, high definition cameras to old coaxial-cable based CCTV networks. Since you dont have to replace cable, this means savings no new cable required, no new installation charge. SDI security cameras connect directly to coax cable.

Dynamic Noise Reduction

Noise creeps into video images in surveillance networks from a variety of sources, sometimes from an unstable power supply and sometimes from spurious activity in the image pickup device. Some noise may be triggered by the scene itself, when something bright appears, when a sharply contrasting color passes through the area, or when a bright light or dark shadow crosses the front of the security camera. Dynamic noise reduction is a variety of methods used to eliminate noise, which appears as grainy imaging or blurred video. The OSD menu can be used to turn these features on and off and control how they function. These features are labeled as DNR, 2DNR, and 3DNR, depending on the product, and my include SMART DNR as well.

Backlight Compensation

When a video sensor images a scene it converts values of light into digital data. When an object is surrounded by light that originates behind the object, then details and color can be lost. Backlight compensation is a method that is built into the chipset and adjustable through the OSD menu that corrects data originating from this type of scene.
A camera without backlight compensation will often create a foreground image that appears too dark compared to the area surrounding it. The image appears like this because the sensor is compensating for the surrounding light. Intelligent backlight compensation attempts to protect the foreground subject and damps the surrounding light that might overpower the sensor. It helps to make sure that contrast, hue, and colors appear correctly.

Anti-Vandal Feature

The ECL-HD5V has a tough all metal case and a tough dome designed to resist vandals, a through-base cable design that keeps the power and video cable out of sight, and includes a back box that makes installation and maintenance tasks easy.

On Screen Display Menu

Not only do you get true high definition (progressive scan) video, this camera comes with an OSD menu that lets you fine tune the camera. You can set up digital wide dynamic range (DWDR), Sens-Up, 2D & 3D digital noise reduction, backlight compensation (BLC) and more.

Varifocal Lens and Infrared Array

A 2.8-10mm varifocal lens lets the user adjust the field of view. An infrared array works with the mechanical IR filter during IR mode, helping to minimize or eliminate troublesome issues like haze and focus shift.
